This Pentecost season we have been involved in a number of ecumenical initiatives locally. Daniel worked together with clergy from the United Protestant Church of Spain (IEE), the Norwegian Lutheran Church and the Anglican Diocese in Europe, to plan a special Pentecost Celebration at the beautiful El Campanario Centre, of the Norwegian Sjømannskirken. For the celebration itself we followed a simple liturgy from Lindesfarn (Holy Island) in Spanish, English and Norwegian, and included a series of creative and contemplative prayer stations, including one exploring Pentecost through Art. We were also blessed with the presence of Roman Catholic friends from the Diocese of Málaga.
On Wednesday 26th of May, Daniel also took part in a special Pentecost ecumenical gathering hosted by the bishop of Málaga, D. Jesús, at the Diocesan Spirituality House. We had a guided tour of the old seminary with the bishop and other local Roman Catholic clergy, prayed and read the scriptures together, and had a lovely tapas lunch in the Spirituality House. At the end of the encounter Daniel was invited to join a new ecumenical group formed by Roman Catholic and Protestant clergy, which will meet regularly to work toward visible unity in the Málaga area.
